Hlavním tématem pro Volvo Buses na veletrhu Busworld 2009 v belgii je nízká spotřeba pohonných hmot. Bude představen nový 13 litrový motor a návštěvníci budou mít příležitost otestovat jízdz hybridním autobusem, který se chystá zanedlouho do sériové výroby. Vedoucím principem je pro Volvo "Green Efficiency" - zelená účinnost. Jako výsledek přechodu na normu Euro 5 je změna z běžného 12tilitrového na nový 13tilitrový motor s poklesem spotřeby o 5 %. Motor bude osazen do autokarů Volvo 9700 a Volvo 9900 s převodovkou I-shift. Exponáty budou mít také nově bezpečnostní prvek FIP pro zvláštní ochranu řidiče a průvodce, Knee Impact Protection, ochranu řidičových kolen v případě kolize a systém FUPS pro ochranu před podjetím pro ochranu posádek osobních vozů.

Princip Green Efficiency je uplatněn také u městských autobusů. Paralelní hybrid může ušetřit až 30 % paliva v městském provozu. Hybridy jsou testovány v Göteborgu a v Londýně. Sériová výroba hybridů je plánována na rok 2010.

Návštěvníci veletrhu si budou moci vyzkoušet řízení hybridu Volvo 7700 a autokaru Volvo 9700 s novým 13tilitrovým motorem a I-shift převodovkou.

Na stánku Volvo bude připravena také expozice poprodejních služeb jako např. servisní kontrakty, .

Volvo Buses at Busworld. Test drive Volvo’s hybrid bus
The major theme for Volvo Buses at the 2009 Busworld trade fair in Kortrijk, Belgium, will be low fuel consumption. A new fuel-efficient 13-liter engine will be launched and visitors will have the opportunity to test drive Volvo’s hybrid bus, which will soon enter mass production.

The automotive industry is under significant pressure to reduce toxic emissions of Nox, particles and in particular the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide by switching to more environmentally friendly vehicles. If the more environment-friendly vehicles are more cost effective than the old models, the transition will be faster. This is the guiding principle for Volvo Buses’ environmental work, known as Green Efficiency, which will be one of the company’s themes at Busworld in the Belgian town of Kortrijk in October. When Volvo selected SCR technology to meet Euro IV emissions standards, the primary reason was that the company could thus reduce its fuel consumption. The Euro V standard will further lower consumption.

As a result of the transition to Euro V, Volvo Buses will be shifting from the current 12-liter engine to a new 13-liter engine, which will be unveiled at Busworld. The field tests that have been conducted show a reduction in consumption by up to 5 percent.

The new 13-liter engine will be fitted in such coaches as the Volvo 9700 and the exclusive Volvo 9900, which both will be on display at Volvo’s stand. Both models have been hailed by the media and customers alike, particularly for the smooth and fuel-efficient driveline with the I-shift transmission. In terms of safety, the coaches are equipped with such Volvo innovations as FIP, the reinforced front that provides extra protection for drivers and guides, Knee Impact Protection, which protects the drivers’ knees in the event of a collision, and FUPS underrun protection, which prevents passenger cars from becoming wedged under the bus in the event of a frontal collision.

Volvo Buses’ Green Efficiency approach also guided the selection of hybrid technology for the company’s city buses. Parallel hybrid technology enables an approximately 30-percent reduction in fuel consumption in most urban traffic conditions.

The company’s field-test buses in Göteborg and London, which have now been in traffic for nearly six months, confirm these figures and demonstrate a high degree of reliability.

Volvo Buses are at the leading edge of hybrid technology and are already receiving orders for the new buses. Mass production will commence in early 2010.

At Busworld, visitors will have the opportunity to test drive a Volvo 7700 hybrid, which will be parked right outside Volvo’s stand. Visitors will also be able to test drive a Volvo 9700 with the new 13-liter engine and I-shift.

However, efficiency is not just about how good the actual bus is. It is just as much about the aftermarket functioning smoothly. In the store at Volvo Buses’ stand, the company will present its wide range of aftermarket services such as service contracts, fuel consumption analyses, lease agreements and ordering spare parts via the Internet.
