Volvo 9700 - kandidát na titul Coach of the Year 2008. (Volvo Buses at Busworld. Volvo 9900 with new exclusive design.)

Dalšími novými prvky v autokarech jsou Front Impact Protection (FIP) - čelní ochrana posilující bezpečnost řidiče a průvodce spolu s Front Underrun Protection System (FUPS) - ochranou proti podjetí protijedoucím menším vozidlem.

Volvo 9700 je jeden z kandidátů na titul Coach of the Year 2008 v Coach Euro Testu - vítěz bude vyhlášen na Busworldu.

  • Volvo 9900 6x2
  • Volvo 9700 4x2
  • Volvo 9700 6x2

Volvo Buses at Busworld. Volvo 9900 with new exclusive design
The main attraction at Volvo Buses’ stand at Busworld in Kortrijk, Belgium will be the company’s newest coaches, Volvo 9700 and Volvo 9900. The Volvo 9900 is the most exclusive model and will now be further strengthened due to a series of design changes, which will be unveiled at Busworld. Volvo 9700 and Volvo 9900 were showcased for the first time at IAA 2006 and an increasing number of customers have now started using them in their operations.

Several trade magazines have also had the opportunity to test the new models and have all given very positive reviews. The driveline is among the features specifically highlighted by the journalists. The I-shift is judged as the market’s best automatic transmission. It shifts smoothly and easily and is perfectly adapted to Volvo’s 12-liter engine. Several fuel comparisons also show that Volvo 9700 and the Volvo 9900 are highly fuel efficient due to the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. The journalists also highlighted the unique safety features in the new coaches. They emphasized Front Impact Protection (FIP), which is the reinforced front that provides protection for the driver, and the guide, Knee Impact Protection, which protects the driver’s knees in the event of collision as well as the Front Underrun Protection System (FUPS), which prevents vehicles from becoming wedged under the coach in the event of a frontal collision. Volvo’s exhibition at Busworld will display the front of the bus that was used in the collision test at Volvo’s safety center. Visitors will be able to clearly see how the underrun protection works.

Volvo 9700 in Coach Euro Test

The Volvo 9700 is one of the coaches vying for the title of Coach of the Year 2008. About 15 journalists conducted a major test, Coach Euro Test 2007, of six different coach models in June this year. The results of the journalists’ votes will be presented at Busworld.

The Volvo 9700 with I-shift that took part in the Coach Euro Test will be parked outside the exhibition facility in Kortrijk. Visitors will have the opportunity to test drive to form individual opinions on all the features.

The Volvo 9900 is the company’s most exclusive coach model. The theater floor and the sloping window lines provide passengers with a perfect allround view. The driver has a separate door and the model has a very high degree of equipment as standard.

In the latest version of Volvo 9900, which will be presented at the trade fair in Kortrijk, the company has implemented a series of various design changes to further strengthen the exclusivity of the model. This pertains to changes to both the exterior and interior.

Euro 5 already today

Environmental issues are another area in focus at the Volvo Buses’ display. Increasing demands are being placed on bus companies to reduce emission levels. Volvo Buses will display the long series of solutions that the company can offer its customers.

Due to the fact that Volvo Buses selected SCR technology, the company can today offer Euro 5 to its customers, which many customers are already choosing despite the fact that it will not be a requirement until 2009. The Enhanced Environmental Vehicle (EEV) and biodiesel are other solutions that can assist customers in coping with the increasing demands from buyers. Volvo also has a modern gas engine that can operate on both natural gas and biogas.

At the trade fair, Volvo will also demonstrate its unique, hybrid solution in the form of a driveline module. Volvo has elected to develop a parallel hybrid, which will generate fuel savings of up to 35 percent.

By connecting the electric engine and diesel engine in parallel, the vehicle can be equipped with a smaller diesel engine and still achieve the performance required. This provides customers with a cost-efficient solution that reduces emissions. This means that the diesel engine can be switched off at bus stops and red traffic lights and the bus can accelerate to traffic speed using only the electric engine. This produces lower fuel consumption, lower emissions and reduced noise levels.

Volvo will be displaying the following buses at Busworld:
  • Volvo 9900 6x2
  • Volvo 9700 4x2
  • Volvo 9700 6x2
  • Volvo 8700 RLE
  • Volvo 7700
