Během uplynulého víkendu oslavila společnost VDL Jonckheere Bus & Coach nv své 125. výročí. Zakladatelem společnosti vzniklé v belgickém Roeselare byl Henri Jonckheere. V roce 1881 začal vyrábět kočáry - ke změně na výrobu autobusů dochází na začátlku 20. století. V současnosti je tak VDL Jonckheere jedním z nejstarších evropských autobusových karosářů.

Součástí oslav byl i den otevřených dvěří pro cca 1000 návštěvníků, kteří si mohli prohlédnout nabídku VDL Bus & Coach - autokar Jonckheere JHD, BOVA Synergy,BOVA Magiq, BOVA Lexio a ProCity

125th anniversary VDL Jonckheere

During the weekend of 17 November, VDL Jonckheere Bus & Coach nv celebrated its 125th anniversary. Henri Jonckheere was the founder of this company based in Roeselare, Belgium. In 1881, he started manufacturing horse-drawn carriages, switching to bus building at the start of the 20th century. At 125 years old, VDL Jonckheere is one of the oldest bus manufacturers in Europe.

Anniversary celebrations

The anniversary celebrations officially started on Friday 17 November, with a speech by Tony Buyck, director of VDL Jonckheere Bus & Coach nv, in which he harked back to the early years of the company. This was followed by speeches by Prime Minister of the Flemish government Yves Leterme, who congratulated VDL Jonckheere on its anniversary and the opening of the new VDL Busland workshop, and by Rini Vermeulen, member of the Board of Management of the VDL Groep.

On Saturday, 18 November, some 1000 visitors attended an open day, where they could view the entire product range from VDL Bus & Coach. This includes the new super highdecker Jonckheere JHD, the Synergy, the Magiq, the Lexio and the ProCity, all of which were on display inside and outside. For the children there was a bouncy castle and face painting, whilst their parents enjoyed a celebratory cake and a Belgian beer.

All in all, VDL Jonckheere can look back on a successful anniversary celebration. The 125th anniversary will officially draw to a close on 8 December, with a party for the company staff.
