Velká zakázka autobusů ProCity pro VDL Bus & Coach

Holandský dopravce Connexxion objednal u VDL Bus & Coach 113 autobusů ProCity v ceně cca 13 mil. EUR. ProCity je malý linkový autobus se sníženou podlahou vyvinutý specielně pro regionální dopravní obsluhu. Dodávka začne v únoru 2007. Nejnovější generace midibusů se sníženou podlahou byla představena na IAA 2006 v Hannoveru. Díky novému servomotoru VW T5 i specielnímu zavěšení kol zadní nápravy má ProCity bezbariérovou sníženou podlahu se schůdkem 265 mm. V autobuse je 21 sedadel pro cestující, k dispozici je prostor 21000 mm pro stojící. To určuje ProCity jako ideální pro město i region. ProCity lze stavět také na bázi Renault Master nebo Peugeot Boxer.

113 nových ProCity pro Connexxion bude provozováno v oblasti Fríska. Od 15.4.2007 nabízí Connexxion v tomto regionu kompletní novou obsluhu pod jménem “De Frysker”. V tomto prostoru nahradí midibusy klasické autobusy. Nízkopodlažní vouzidla budou mít přístup i prostor pro jeden invalidní vozík. Na TFT obrazovce bude cestující informovat palubní počítač. Autobusy ProCity budou obsluhovat Frísko a také budou ve Frísku vyráběny ve VDL Berkhof Heerenveen, jedné ze společností skupiny VDL. Další člen VDL Bus & Coach, VDL Kusters, bude dokončovat interiéry.

Large ProCity order for VDL Bus & Coach

The Dutch passenger transport company Connexxion has placed a large order with VDL Bus & Coach for the delivery of 113 ProCity buses. This order has a value of approximately EUR 13 M. The ProCity is a small line bus with a lowered floor that was specially developed for city and regional service. The first ProCity buses will be delivered to Connexxion starting in February of 2007.

ProCity

This newest generation of midibuses with lowered floor was introduced in September 2006 during the IAA in Hanover. Thanks to the new VW T5 drive unit with front-wheel drive as well as the specially designed independent wheel suspension on the rear axle, the ProCity has a flat floor with no obstacles providing a step-in height of just 265 mm while the bus has 21 passenger seats and the standing height throughout the vehicle is 2100 mm. This makes the ProCity from VDL Bus & Coach ideal for city and regional use. The ProCity is also available on the basis of the Renault Master or the Peugeot Boxer.

ProCity for Connexxion

The 113 new ProCity buses for Connexxion will be put in service in the concession territory North and Southwest Friesland. Starting 15th April 2007, Connexxion will offer a completely new service schedule in this region under the name “De Frysker”. Instead of the usual “large” public transport buses, only the small ProCity buses will be used in this area. These will be wheelchair-friendly, low floor buses with seating for 20 and room for 1 wheelchair. Additionally, the ProCity buses are equipped with the most advanced on-board computer, which makes it possible for the traveller to obtain travel information via a TFT screen.

Production

The ProCity buses that will begin service in Friesland in 2007 will also be manufactured in Friesland. Production will take place at VDL Berkhof Heerenveen, one of the VDL Bus & Coach bus companies. Another VDL Bus & Coach subsidiary, VDL Kusters, will carry out the interior finishing for a proportion of the Connexxion order.
