Picardie je výsledkem spolupráce mezi VDL Kusters a slovenským distributorem VDL Bus & Coach Rošero-P na bázi Mercedes-Benz Vario 818. Povozek byl vyzkoušen, stylová nástavba je z nerezové oceli. Picardie je vybavena motorem Mercedes-Benz Euro 4 130 kW 4.2 l diesel, který pohání zadní nápravu pomocí manuální nebo automatické převodovky. Vůz je vybaven také pneumatickým odpružením Mercedes-Benz a retardérem Telma.

New Picardie midibus from VDL Bus & Coach
The Picardie is the latest vehicle launched by VDL Bus & Coach. It is a midibus with a length of 8,580 mm and was specially developed for use in coaching. In a 2+2 configuration there are 29+1+1 or 33+1+1 spacious and comfortable seats.
Technique
The Picardie is the result of a cooperative venture between VDL Kusters and the Slovakian VDL Bus & Coach distributor, Rošero-P. The subframe is the Mercedes-Benz Vario 818 in the chassisparavan model. This chassis has been tried and tested and has proven itself as being sound and extremely reliable. The stylish and modern bodywork structure is made of stainless steel. The Picardie is fitted with a Euro 4 130 kW (177 DIN pk) 4.2 litre diesel engine which drives the rear axle via a manually-operated, or as an optional extra, an automatic gearbox. The vehicle is also fitted with Mercedes-Benz air suspension, a Telma retarder and, of course, it complies with all the statutory requirements with respect to 2001/85.
Interior
Seating in comfort is provided by the Vogel Primus 2-person seats which have connected headrests, foldaway armrests and fully adjustable back rests. The seats on the inside can also be adjusted sideways. The carrier's seat can be folded away so that a spacious, accessible entry is created. The driver's seat is ergonomically designed and comfortable. The tinted double-glass side windows are extended to high under the roof trim. This, in combination with the raised windscreen, offers passengers the maximum view of the outside. The Picardie is fitted as standard with airconditioning. The individually-adjustable air vents and the reading lights are incorporated into the newly-designed luggage racks.
Baggage lockers
At the rear the Picardie has an upright flap which provides access to a deep loadspace of 3.8 m³. Together with the 3 baggage lockers at the side of the bus, the total baggage space is 4.5 m³. In addition, above the double row of seats there is also a convenient storage area for hand luggage.
