Stuttgart/Verona – Hartmut Schick, ředitel Daimler Buses odpovědný za celosvětový obchod s autobusy společnosti Daimler AG, převzal dodatečný úkol mimo koncern: Hartmut Schick se stává ředitelem divize průmyslu a tím i členem výkonného výboru „Mezinárodního svazu pro veřejnou dopravu“, UITP. V této funkci zastupuje ve vedení výboru zájmy průmyslu, a to přes 380 průmyslových výrobců a subdodavatelů ze 40 zemí. Na shromáždění členů svazu UITP v italské Veroně byl Hartmut Schick oficiálně jmenován do funkce.

Ve svazu UITP jsou organizováni provozovatelé městské dopravy, veřejnoprávní a vědecké instituce i podniky služeb a průmyslu. Na celém světě má UITP přes 3100 členů z 90 zemí a klade si za cíl, do roku 2025 zdvojnásobit podíl veřejné přepravy osob na celkovém objemu přepravy.

Ve své nástupní řeči před shromážděním členů UITP se Schick zmínil o úloze a budoucnosti veřejné přepravy osob. Přitom stála v popředí zejména témata demografický vývoj, trend mega-aglomerací a pokračující změna klimatu. „Jedno je jisté: veřejným dopravním prostředkům patří budoucnost. Neboť veřejná přeprava osob poskytuje všem lidem formu mobility, která je finančně dostupná, čistá a příjemná. Proto musíme vsadit na další masivní rozvoj veřejných dopravních prostředků a infrastruktury, abychom tím celosvětově zřetelně snížili spotřebu paliva a množství emisí“, řekl Schick.

Hartmut Schick pracoval po absolvování studia strojírenství na Univerzitě v Karlsruhe v roce 1986 mimo jiné v oblasti výzkumu, výroby a marketingu společnosti Daimler-Benz AG. Od roku 1997 do roku 1999 budoval závod firmy Mercedes-Benz v Juiz de Fora v Brazílii. Od roku 1999 pracoval Schick jako šéf grémia předsedy představenstva, od roku 2002 převzal navíc vedení úseku Globální komunikace společnosti Daimler AG. Od 1.ledna je Hartmut Schick předsedou předstvenstva společnosti EvoBus GmbH, a zároveň vedoucím obchodního úseku Daimler Buses.

Hartmut Schick appointed new Chairman of UITP’s Industry Division

Stuttgart/Verona – Hartmut Schick, Head of Daimler Buses and responsible for Daimler’s global bus business, has taken on an additional task outside of the company. Hartmut Schick is the new Chairman of the Industry Division and therefore member of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) Executive Board. In his role as member of the Executive Board, Schick will represent the interests of more than 380 industrial manufacturers and suppliers from 40 countries. Schick was officially appointed to this position at the UITP General Assembly in Verona, Italy.

The UITP is a network of local public transport authorities and operators, institutes under public law, scientific institutes, service providers, and industrial companies. The UITP has more than 3,100 members in 90 countries worldwide. Its aim is to double public transport’s share of the total traffic volume by 2025.

“The UITP is a time-honored association that can look back on outstanding achievements accomplished during its nearly 125-year history,” said Hartmut Schick. “It has actively helped to shape the technological and social development of local public transport. I’m proud and happy that I will hold the honorable and demanding position of Vice President in the future, and I’d like to thank all of the members for placing their confidence in me.”

In his inaugural address before the UITP General Assembly, Schick talked about the present and future role of public transport. He focused particularly on demographic developments, the trend toward mega-cities, and the intensifying process of climate change. “One thing is certain,” he said. “The future belongs to public transport. That’s because public transport provides everyone with mobility that is clean, affordable, and comfortable. We therefore have to focus on greatly expanding public transport systems and the associated infrastructure, and thus helping to substantially reduce fuel consumption and emissions worldwide. Buses and trains are making a major contribution to protecting the climate.”

After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Karlsruhe, Hartmut Schick joined Daimler-Benz AG in 1986, where he worked in the research, production, and marketing departments, among others. From 1997 to 1999 he set up the Mercedes-Benz plant in Juiz de Fora, Brazil. Schick was appointed Chief of Staff of the Board of Management Chairman in 1999. In 2002 he also became Head of Global Communications for Daimler AG. On January 1, Hartmut Schick was appointed Chairman of the Management Board of EvoBus GmbH and Head of the Daimler Buses business unit.
