Volvo Buses zajištují objednávku 323 autikarů do Mexika. Bětšina bude dodaná v roce 2010.
Mexiko je země a autokary tu mají značný význam pro cestování na delší vzdálenosti - železniční síť je řídká. Právě Mexiko je pro Volvo Buses největším světovým zákazníkem. Objednávka na 323 autokarů je od zákazníka IAMSA, který má největší mexickou autobusovou flotilu s asi 10 tisíci autobusy - cca 2400 z nich jsou značky Volvo. IMSA a Volvo mají těsnou spolupráci, ze které vyplývá specifikace autokarů, finální řešení a poprodejní služby.
Zakázku tvoří autokary Volvo 9700. Polovina vozidel bude osazena 12tilitrovými, a druhá polovina novými 13tilitrovými motory. Pozdější dodávka bude mít motory EURO 5 (v Evropě platná norma od 10/2009). V Mexiku je platná nyní norma EURO 4. IAMSA je jedno z organizací participujících na testování 13tilitrového motoru, který byl uveden na trh v Mexiku letos.
Vozy budou vyrobeny z závodě Volvo Buses v Mexico City.

Mexico is a large country and, with poorly developed rail traffic, the coach is the most important means of transport for long journeys. For Volvo Buses, Mexico is one of the largest markets in the world. The order for 323 coaches is from the customer IAMSA, which has the largest bus fleet in Mexico, with about 10,000 buses and coaches, of which approximately 2,400 are Volvo coaches. Volvo and IAMSA have close cooperation and, prior to this order, a number of work groups were involved in identifying the solutions required by IAMSA for its business. These included the specifications for the coaches, financial solutions and aftermarket issues.
The order is for the Volvo 9700. Half of the coaches will be equipped with Volvo’s 12-liter engine and half with the new, more fuel-efficient 13-liter engine. The latter meets the strict new environmental requirements according to Euro 5, which was introduced in Europe in October. In Mexico, only Euro 4 is the requirement today. IAMSA is one of the companies in the world that has participated in the field testing of the 13-liter engine, which will be introduced in Mexico this year.
The buses will be manufactured in Volvo Buses’ plant in Mexico City.
